Mergie's Post

I have to put this in a blog, because there is too much to say. I was reading the posts of Mergie Bradley who worked as a substitute teacher this year. She is to be commended.  Kids really give the subs a hard way to go.  She shared with us at church that she felt that God was using her to impact the lives of some of the kids.  This is true. It's a mean world out there and you have got to equip kids to deal with it.  Nobody is going to cater to their every need.  Being a mother herself she would know.

The part that saddens me is the part where she says she's been called a n and other words.  Words hurt. In the day and age where we can send a man into outer space, why can't we get rid of racism.  No matter how much you accomplish, you are just a n. to some people.  I've been called that myself.  I heard Jesse Duplantis say something on TV. the other day that made sense. He said our enemies, the ones who bombed the world trade center, people like Bin-Laden and those didn't see race or color, they saw Americans. They didn't see black, white Asian, or Hispanic. They just saw Americans. They hate us equally.  God doesn't see color either, Man looks on the outward appearence, God looks at the heart.  When are we going to stop hating and saying hurtful things based on a person's color. We need to take a hint from the Bible or our enemies.

One of the things I have been able to do is be in places and hear things that people say and they say it in front of me, because I look like them.  I am an albino.  That means I have no pigment in my skin. I don't tan, I burn, I have blonde hair and gray eyes.  I hear a lot of things that nobody would say in front of me if I was brown skinned like my mother.  I am amazed why it was so important when I was on the radio to know what color I was.  I am a child of God. People would invite me to church and say things like it don't matter what color you are you are welcome.  I thought to myself, it's a church isn't it, I should be welcome.  There are a lot of myths about the different races.  As I've said I have been in lots of places and people are people. There are good and not so good in all races. There are hurting people everywhere.

Being black is not a curse, as some teach. Where did Ham get his wife? She was on the ark with him. Ham Shem and Japeth, Noah's sons and their wives were on the ark.  The different races of people started with the tower of Babel. When God came down and confused the langages, people that spoke the same languages got together and went in to different parts of the world. Their skin changed so they could live in the climate that they were in. God instructed the Jews not to marry the Moabites, because they were children of incest. Other races of people God instructed the Jews not to marry, because they worshipped idols, offered up human sacrifices and did things that were contrary to the scriptures.

We need to pray for our teachers. We have some that really care about the kids. Then you have some that could care less. The good ones are painted with the same brush as the bad ones.  In college I have had some really encouraging teachers and helpful. I have also had some I wouldn't give you a nickel for. Parents, before you call up a teacher to cuss them out because your little darling says that they don't like me... meet with the teacher and see for yourself.  You think your little darling would never do or say something? As a Sunday School teacher for many years, you would be surprised what your little darling will do if given half of a chance.

Again, pray for our good teachers.......
