God opens and closes doors not people

I was watching "Joyce Meyer" this morning and she read a scripture from Isaiah 45: 2, "I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight. I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron."   There is another scripture that says I will open a door that no man can shut and shut a door that no man can open. In summary, God opens and closes doors, not people.

Have you ever been trying to do something and the door of oppertunity seemed to be closed?  Sometimes the door is closed, because it is Gods timing.  Sometimes our season is up with something we are doing and the door closes. It seems like that someone closed the door. There you are binding the devil and praying. God has another plan, but we are so focused on the present situation we can't see what God has in store for us. He sees the big long-range picture of our life. I was reminded of that recently.

If we look at the story of Joseph in Genesis, his brothers were jealous of him. In fact they wanted to kill him. He was sold into slavery. To the world's eyes, Joseph can't catch a break. The things that his brothers meant for evil, God used to save a nation in a time of famine.  Joseph had to learn how to be a servant. While he was in prison, he served so well he was a trustee. He began to work in the house of Potipher, he was put in charge of everything in the house. The devil always tries to use something to derail us off track. Potiphers wife took a liking to Joseph and tried to seduce him. Joseph ran. Good for him!. How many of us would have ran. Some of us would have given in and prayed that Potipher wouldn't find out. He was thrown back in prison. Some teachers and commentaries suggested that Potipher knew Joseph wasn't guilty, because if he thought Joseph was really guilty, he would have had him killed.  Since he was Hebrew something had to be done. Joseph was caretaker of prison. While he was there, he interepted dreams of Pharoh's baker and cupbearer.  In three days the cupbears was restored to the house of Pharoh, in three days the baker was beheaded. Joseph asked the cupbearer to remember him. The cupbearer didn't until later. How many of us have asked someone to remember us if a job came open at their place of work. You are hoping a door would open that way.  I used to ask that if a job came open, tell people what I do. I have certain talents and everyone was so busy telling me how good I was at my job and I needed to stay where I was, they didn't bother.  Getting back to Joseph, when the Pharoh had a dream, finally the cupbearer remembered Joseph interpreting his dream.  The Pharoah sent for Joseph, Joseph tells him about seven years of plenty, followed by seven years of famine. To store grain up from the seven years of plenty for the years of famine.  The next thing he knew Joseph was second in command to Pharoh. Not bad for a Jewish man.... Promotion comes from God..

We sometimes get a little antsy abou the ways that God leads us to shape us and mold us into His perfect will. The process is painful. God see's the big picture. He uses the circumstances of our lives to bring us to a crisis of belief, where we must believe God will do what He said He would do. We either believe the Bible or not.  Just think of this the next time you knock at a door and it is closed. God is in control;.  He will open or close a door in His time.
