I Am Glad To Be Me

There was a post on Lola Spence Martin's page last night that I found interesting. It said something to the effect that I may not look like a fashion model, with a flat stomach and a hot body ect, but I am glad to be me... I liked that post.  The Bible tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. How can we improve on prefection? We can't.

There are some things we CAN do. We can take care of our bodies better. Get enough rest and drink enough water.  If we need to lose a few pounds we can do that.  We can quit eating so much junk food. This is not so we can have hot body, but to be healthy. Let's face it, after you get a certain age, things tend to shift. I am not going to look the same as I did when I was 19 or 20.  Right now, I just want to be healthy. I am waging a war with diabetes.  This is a war that I must win. I have to watch what I eat and when I eat it.  I've lost a little bit of weight. People will ask you what are you doing to lose weight and you say I'm trying to stay well. They look at you like you are crazy.  When your glucose levels are up, you feel sluggish and tired. You just plain feel bad. I am tired of getting up feeling like I have been run over by a truck. I am working on this.

People have gotten so carried away with looking young, they are injecting poison into their bodies in the form of Botox, they are injecting cologen into their lips to make them look full. That is crazy.  Some people want to look like the people on TV. Well, if you had someone to make you up, airbrush all of your flaws out of a picture, you could look good too. Another thing with computers you can use one person's head and put it on someone elses's body.. It's called "Photoshopping".  You could be a three hundred pound person, they can take your face and put it with the body of Angelina Jolie.  So much for reality.  God gave us certain gifts and qualities that reach farther than looking good. Of course you want to look your best at all times, but that can't be all you think about.  What about your smile or the way you can encourage people. There are many ways to be beautiful besides high fashion. There is an inner beauty that people can't understand. A strength of character that is lacking in a lot of people.

The other thing is don't go to the other extreme either. Don't get the attitude that what you see is what you get, and you looked like you just got out of bed. Take a little care with your appearence.  There are some churches that don't let women wear make up or jewlery.  I wear both, that doesn't make me less Godly, because I do not worship these things, they enhance the way I look.  I started wearing make up in my early 20's, not to look good, but my skin would chap so bad in the winter I needed something to shield my skin from the elements.  When I first started wearing makeup, there were two ladies that helped me learn the right shades and the other things to keep my skin from drying up, they showed me how to deal with sunburns, ect. The first was a lady named Marie who worked for Merle Norman Cosmetics, she showed me how to do makeup so it would look natural and not look like Tammy Faye Bakker.  The second one was a lady named Ann who used to work at Stone & Thomas.  They both helped me learn about skin care and different things. I think God puts people in your path to help you when you need it.

We are fearfully and wonderfully made, we need to take care of the package that God has given us. I am glad to be me. I am a work in process. I learned that term in accounting. I have heard the term a work in progress, but I am going through a process of rebuilding, refinning and learning. A work in process would best describe me.  I am not a beauty queen with a flat stomach and all of that. I am who God wants me to be. He is still working on me...
