Experience God an overview

     I am teaching a Bible study tonight. Yesterday while the power was off, I had a chance to work on this. God woke me upon on Monday morning to find this book "Experiencing God". I took the class in 1995. I took the class twice, the second time I took it with my mom. After the class, it was very evident that God was calling me into ministry. Everybody thought I was over reacting to the class. It is funny how when you want to completely give yourself over to God, people think you are going overboard. They don't say anything when people paint themselves in their favorite sports teams colors and run around dressed like a clown, or other extreme behavior. When it comes to the things of God, is when people say you are crazy.  This class changed many lives.



     About seventeen years ago I took a class that basically changed my life. It was “Experiencing God”, Henry Blackby and Claude V King came out with a book and classes that if you take them you will never be the same again. I took the class twice. I took it myself and I took it with my mom. The class starts with Seven Realities about God

1.   God is always at work around you. When you look back over your life you can see God’s hand in your life. Maybe a hand of protection, maybe a guiding hand helping you from one thing to the next, a hand of favor.

1 Cor. 5: 7 “For we walk by faith and not by sight

    2. God peruses a continuing love relationship that is real and personal.  I John 4 8-9 tells us that if we do not have love we don’t know God for God is love. 

     3. God invites you to become involved with Him in His work.   God uses ordinary people. We tend to think of people in the Bible as super saints, not like us at all. They were a lot like us, the didn’t always do what God said, they doubted at times, they fell into self-pity. The one thing that made them extra special was their obedience to God. I cor. 1 27-31 God has chosen the foolish things of this world to put to shame the wise and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things that are mighty.  And the insignificant things and the things which are despised God has chosen and the things which are not to bring to nothing the things that are. And no flesh shall glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness, and sanctification and redemption, that as it is written He who glories, let Him glory in the Lord.

     4. God Speaks by

·       The Holy Spirit

·       Prayer

·       The Bible

·       Circumstances

·       His church

To reveal Himself

His purposes

His ways

John 10:14- I am the good Shepard and I know my sheep


John 10:27 – My sheep know my voice and will follow me

     5. God’s invitation for you to work with Him always leads to a crisis of belief, that requires faith and action.  You must belief that God is who He said He is and He will do what He promised. You cannot go with God and remain the same. Isaiah 43:18-19 – Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold I will do a new thing and it shall spring forth, Shall you not know it. I will make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

     6. You must make major adjustments in your life to join God in what He is doing.

Faith

Adjustments

Obedience

    7. You can come to know God by experience as you obey Him and He accomplishes His work through you.


      One of the most important things I got from this  Bible study is that I can't go with God and remain the same. God will move you out of your comfort zone to work in your life. My husband and I have both experienced this I am reminded when they Wise came to see Jesus, they went back a different way. As God works in your life you change, your views change, your priorities change.
Gods standards are different from the worlds. Isaiah 55:8 say "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are My ways , your ways are far as the heavens higher than the earth so are My ways higher rthan your ways, and My thoughts higher than your thoughts. God is amazing and He loves each of us, we are special to Him.

Don't Argue Or Reason With The Devil

I was watching Jesse Duplantis last night and he was teaching on Jesus being tempted in the wilderness in Matthew chapter 4. I was reminded of something that I was working on. Class of 1975, I Graduated, Whats Next????

The class of 1975 made it through the Pomp and Circumstance” getting our high school diplomas. June 6, 1975 seems like so long ago, but at the same time it seems like it was only yesterday. SO many decisions that were made that would affect our lives forever. I don’t think that we should hold decisions made by an 18 or 19 year old accountable for the rest of their lives. I was 17 when I graduated from high school and I was a very sheltered 17 year old to say the least. I had never dated. I didn’t date until I was 21. It wasn’t a religious thing, it was more like my mind and my age finally caught up with each other. Some of our class would go to college, some would work and some went into the military.
