Radio Daze Chapter 23 Married Life & Radio

Its been a while since I wrote anything in the "Radio Daze" book. I just felt like I needed to write some more, so here it is Chapter 23 Married Life & the Radio       Theresa and Lee got married, the first days were kind of surreal. The getting adjusted to each others habits and differences. Theresa was a morning person who liked to get up and listen to the birds sing and Lee, he would sleep in past 10 or 11 in the morning. To Theresa's way of thinking the day was half gone, by the time he would get up. Another thing Theresa had to get used to was just having a man around the house. She had been on her own for a long time and was used to doing things for herself or having her dad take care of what she couldn't It was quite an adjustment.  Of course there were adjustments that Lee had to make as well. One of the ones he had to make was whenhe would cook he cooked too much. He was used to cooking for six people and well, it was only him and Theresa ...

An Audio message and and written messagefrom January Mark 4:35-41

Back in January during what out church calls "Consecration" month, each minter is asked to preach a message. There are usually two messages each night. This was on January 22 2013, I ministered with Crystal Mc Donald. We were told to preach on the 2nd aninoting and family. All I could think of was instructions. There were scriptures from the Old Testament Exodus 13 and the New Testament Acts 27 -25. As I worked on this message, my mind kept going back to the song "Your Cries Have Awoken The Master. Here is what I worked on at home Acts 27 25 -34 and Mark 4 35-41 Your Cries Have Awoken the Master In Acts 27 when reading it the one thing that stuck out in my spirit was unless you stay in the ship we are all going down. The other thing was that they would come out of this “without a scratch” as it says in the Message Bible. I was then reminded of another time that there was a boat involved. In Mark 4 35-41 On the same day, when evening was come, He said to them, ...

The Far Country

God blessed me to preach this message last week at the nursing home. I am not sure why I was given this message. Some have a problem with women in ministry. There are times when I am a little unconfortable with it myself, but if I wasn't sure that God had called me. I wouyldn't be doing this. Luke 15:11 A certain man had two sons, and the younger said to his fathe,"give me the portion of goods that falleth to me" and he divided unto the his living. Not many days after, his younger son gathered all together and took his journey into a far country, where he wasted his substance with riotous living . And when he had spend all, there rose a famine in the landand he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him ( the younger son) into the fields to feed swine. vs. 17 And when he came to himself, he said,"how many hired servants of my fathers housed have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger...

Sometimes I wonder

There is a song that we have been playing from Ernie Hause and Signature Sound Quartet called "Sometimes I Wonder". I talks about wondering what that loved one is feeling now that they are in heaven. Did they run to see jesus, or did they just stand in awe. Were they excited to find out that they were not in pain and could walk again.  I thought about my mom ,Randy Warden, Dixie Farmer, Elder David Parker and Florence Smith, as well as Pat Deans husband Delano Dean. There are other things I wonder about as well. Like why is it that people can take there kids to scoccer and T-ball and sat there with them, but they can't sit through a church service. Why you can go to Wal-Mart on Sundays, but you can't go to church. Why is it when you wittness to someone about Jesus, the very one who changed your life, that people think of every rotten thing a person who claims to be a Christian has ever said or done to them.      The last one I can comm...

Dixie Farmer

One of the good things about being in radio is that you make friends. You are part of the listeners lives,. You come into their homes each day. Every morning you are in the kitchen, bedroom and even the bathroom. Wherever they have a radio. They listen to you and then they feel that they can call you with thier problems , prayer requests and sometime to just talk. That the way it was with Dixie Farmer. I really don't know when she started calling me, but we would talk about her sons, her grandchildre, her daughter that went back to school like I did. We talked about doctor's she had reccomended several doctors to me. In fact the one i am going to now, she called and helped me get in as a new patient.      I first met Dixie in person at the Beckley Beauty Acadmy. I decided to go in for a pedicure. It was a hot summer day, and the Beckley Acadmy didn't charge too much to get nails and feet done. The students needed the practice and I wanted a...
