Divisions In the Body Of Christ
A few weeks ago, I came in from church and the Lord gave me this message. A Sunday afternoon, I lay across my bed reading and looking these scriptures up and this is what He gave me. I also worked on it last night. When I finished I got the news about the verdict. This wasn't planned or anything. It was God working through His humble servant. I am not perfect, not by a long shot, I operate sometimes in doubt and fear, but take a monument to read this and we Need to PRAY
Scriptures
1 Corinthian 1:10-13
1 Corinthian 12: 12-25
1
Corinthians 1 10-13 reads
Now
I beseech you, breather, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that ye all speak
the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that ye be
perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
For
it has been declared unto me of you, my breather by them which are of the house
of Chloe, that there are contentions among you, Now this I say that every one
of you saith, I am of Paul, and I am of Apollos, and I am of Cleophus and I of
Christ.
Is
Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you
1
Corinthians 12: 12 -25
For
as the body is one and hath many members, and all members of that one body
being many, are one body, as also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we baptized
into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free, and
have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
For
the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not
the hand, I am not of the body, it is therefore not of the body and if the ear
shall say, because I am not the eye I am not of the body, is it therefore not
of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing. If the
whole were hearing where were the smelling?
But
now hath God set the members every one of them in the body as it hath pleased
him. And if they were all one member, where
were the body?
But
now are they many members, yet but one body, And the eye cannot say to the hand,
I have no need of thee, nor again the hand to the feet I have no need of you.
Nay
much more those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon
these we bestow more abundant honor to that part that lack, that there should
be no such schism in the body, but that the members should all have the same
care one for another.
When
Pauli wrote this letter to the church at Corinth, he had to address several
issues
Immorality
Worship
Divisions
in the church
How
to take the Lords supper
Paul
founded the church at Corinth on his second missionary journey. 18 months
later, people began arguing, divisions arose, and some people slipped back into
their old lifestyle.. Paul wrote this letter to recommend that immediate
corrective action be taken to clear up this situation. This church is kind of
like churches today jumping from fad to fad. He wanted them to know that all
Christians are part of Gods family and share a unity through Jesus Christ. To
speak the same thing and to allow no divisions among you. This does not require
everyone to believe alike, In the life application Bible it says that there is
a difference between opposing viewpoints and being divisive. A group of people
may not agree completely on everything, but they can work together in harmony
if they agree on what truly matters and that is Jesus Christ Petty differences
should never divide Christians. Each person is part of the body of Christ and
they have a calling and a job that is unique. You may be able to reach people I
can’t reach and I may be able to reach people you can’t reach. We all function
together as one body; we must use our different gifts, together to spread the
Good News of salivation. As in the human body the hand and the eye have
different functions, but they work together.
I didn’t really realize how much this was true until I had my eye
surgery a few years back. It did not only affect my eyes, but I couldn’t do
anything strenuous for a while, I couldn’t bend down. When you hurt your foot
doesn’t it affect your whole body? When
one part of the body hurts everything else does too. That how they body of
Christ should be, we don’t have time to fight each other when we need to be
fighting the devil and his principalities as he works to divide the Christian
community.
