Push Back the Darkness...
I am still basking in the freedom and the worship of the "Igniting New Life" convention. It was the first one I've ever attended. I went there seeking direction. I come back with a new attitude, one of worship. What I got from the convention was that I needed to worship more and worry less. Worship is when you come before the Lord in reverence, worshiping Him for who He is, Lord of our lives, Savior, King of Kings, our Redeemer Lord, in His presence. We worship not for what He does for us but for who He is. For some reason, we get this all turned around... I need to be free in my worship. When in service at the convention, people were waving flags, and banners, if they had a dance, they did, danced before the Lord. Nobody thought you were strange, we were just worshiping..
There was a song we sang. I had heard this two or three years ago and it says."Push back the darkness, break down the walls, in the Name of Jesus, these chains are gonna fall".... There is a great message in this song. As Christians, we need to make an impact on the darkness of this world. Most of the time we just accept that we live in a dark world. God has called us to be salt and light. We need to push back the darkness, not get used to it. There was a song by the McKameys, that I used to play it was called "Getting Used to the Dark" and it said we are not praying to change any hearts, we're just getting used to the dark". It's true. We need to break down the walls.
At the convention, we worshipped with people of different races, I am sure different denominations and from different countries. Just a taste of what heaven will be like. Our society creates walls between the rich and the poor, the different races, and the different churches. Now if we are all going to the same heaven, why do we have these walls? There won't be any walls in heven. As Christians we can pray that the chains of addictions, racism, poverty and other things be broken in the name of Jesus. We like to complain. I am guilty of this myself, instead of asking God to break the chains of what ever problem we have, we complain about it.. If all the Christian people start praying over things like the budget crisis in Washington, the stalemate will end..
When I think of "Igniting New Life", the embers are there, but the fire of the Holy Spirit will kindle or rekindle what is laying dormant inside of us. Sometimes, we aren't sure what to do or we don't have the freedom in our churches to worship like we want to. Lest someone thinks we are strange, we hold back. I am blessed to have these people in my life to help me through this time of transitition. They keep me encouraged. Someone even blessed me with a lifetime membership. What a blessing. I want to be a light in this dark world , not just exist.. I want to break down the walls that seperate us. When it all comes down to it what we have in common is Jesus Christ ....
As I looked at our beautiful sisters from Aferica and heard what they had to say it was amazing. I am sure they had to sacrifice a great deal to get to the United States. They did it. They are excited about sharing the Gospel. Things like his ignite a new fire in me. What can I do? That is the question we should be asking ourselves....
