Living on the Edge of Mediocrity
One of my favorite books is written by Chuck Swindol called "Living On The Edge of Mediocrity" The book talks about how we settle for good enough. How we need to strive for God's best for us and not to just settle. Too many times people are just content to just get by. It's good enough. I woke this morning not wanting to settle for good enough, I want all that God has for me. I am not content with just a twinge of the Holy Spirit flowing through me. I want to be led and directed by the Holy Spirit.
Too often, especially at this time of year, we get into a rut. We do the same thing the same time each day. We watch the same TV shows. We go to church out of habit. We don't have the expectation that God is going to move in some way to revive us. I am not just looking for a blessing such as a new home or a new car or money in the bank. Those things are nice, but I want a deeper walk with God. I have a calling on my life and I want to experience what God has for me. I will not be just content to feel a twinge of the Holy Spirit and think every thing is OK. It really bothers me that some people are content that way. They do nothing for spiritual growth. They barely crack thier Bibles open other than Sunday mornings in church, they pray only when something is wrong. I don't understand them.
Some say that "Religion" is a crutch. I am not religious. I have a relationship with Jeus Christ.
To be honest what better crutch can we have to lean on than the everlasting arms of Jesus Christ. Knowing that we have a Savior that will never leave or forsake us, knowing that He has our best interest at heart. Knowing that He works all things out for our good and for His Glory. If people would just pursue God with the same passion they pursue other things it would be awesome.
