The Comfort Zone

     There is a poem that I heard this evening. It reminds me of life experiences its called "The Comfort Zone"

The Comfort Zone

I used to have a comfort zone
where I knew I couldn't fail,
The same four walls of busy work
were really more like a jail

I longed so much to do the things
I'd never done before,
But I stayed inside my comfort zone
and paced the same old floor

I said it didn't matter
that I wasn't doing much,
I said I didn't care for things
like diamonds or furs and such

I claimed to be so busy
with the things inside my zone,
But deep inside I longed for
something special of my own

I couldn't let my life go by
just watching others win,
I held my breath and stepped outside
to let the change begin

I took a step and with new strength
I'd never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone good bye
and closed and locked the door

If you are in a comfort zone
afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners
were at one time filled with doubt

A step or two and words of praise
can make your dreams come true
Greet your future with a smile,
success is there for you!


     I was reminded of the step out of my comfort zone that I took six years ago when I went back to school, and seven years ago when finally accepted my calling into the ministry.  I never want to be so comfortable that I miss out on the good things God has for me because I am scared or nervous. There will be challenges and obstacles in life, it is what you do with them that makes you into the person you are or who you can become. Stepping out of your comfort zone is a leap of faith. I once described faith as riding in the backseat of a car and no one is driving. Of course God is driving, you can't see Him or  where He is going, you just have to trust in the fact that He knows the way.

Don't Argue Or Reason With The Devil

I was watching Jesse Duplantis last night and he was teaching on Jesus being tempted in the wilderness in Matthew chapter 4. I was reminded of something that I was working on. Class of 1975, I Graduated, Whats Next????

The class of 1975 made it through the Pomp and Circumstance” getting our high school diplomas. June 6, 1975 seems like so long ago, but at the same time it seems like it was only yesterday. SO many decisions that were made that would affect our lives forever. I don’t think that we should hold decisions made by an 18 or 19 year old accountable for the rest of their lives. I was 17 when I graduated from high school and I was a very sheltered 17 year old to say the least. I had never dated. I didn’t date until I was 21. It wasn’t a religious thing, it was more like my mind and my age finally caught up with each other. Some of our class would go to college, some would work and some went into the military. Some would do well in college, some would leave home and go wild, but would eventually settle down into a career, some would marry and divorce, others married later, some would have children and some didn’t.
