Storms
People ask this question a lot "why Do bad things happen to good people?" I don't really know how to respond to that. All I can do is cling to the promises in scripture like this one "I will Never leave or forsake thee" or I know the thoughts that I have toward you, thoughts of good and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope". These are scriptures I have clung to a lot in life and I guess I will be clinging to them during this current storm.
There are the songs as well Karen Peck and New River Sustaining Grace , Mike and Kelly Bowling :"Your Cries have Awoken the Master; and Taranda Greene singing "When God Has Another Plan", and "Break Every Chain" Tasha Cobbs these are the songs that have gotten me through the storms in my life and many more.
Right now Matt is facing a very big storm in his life. The surgery that he will have to have will call for some major adjustments in his life. Especially for the first few weeks after surgery. He has been reading about it and it frightens him. He actually said today and I am sure it is out of fear, he may take the chance and not have the surgery. It is scary in more ways than one, when you look at the health issues involved and the recovery, then the financial ramifications of it. It would make the most serious believer nervous. I am praying for provision on all counts. I hear people say God is able, sometimes I wonder if they truly know He is able or they are repeating something that they have heard. I do know that God is able. He has provided for us on many fronts. He didn't bring us this far to leave us stranded left to our own devices.
Right now we are dealing with some disappointment issues. Some times we think God is going to work things out one way and then He does it in another in His own time. We just have to trust Him. That gets to be hard, because we have trust issues. Then some of us have control issues. We want to be in charge. I keep thinking what a mess everything would be if we as humans would be in charge of peoples lives. Oh My!!! This current storm is taking every ounce or strength I have not to give up. I am reminded of the poem "Footprints" at the end of the poem the person said something about seeing one set of footprints in the sand and God said that is when I was carrying you I could use Him carrying me right now so could Matt.
We are in this together. Although it is Matt that will go through all of the surgery, I am in this with him. We stood in front of God and everybody and promised to love each other in sickness and health, for richer or poorer. The only problem is that some people don't even consider that someone might get sick or loose a job. I remember my grandmothers both of them talking about taking care of their husbands when they got sick. It wasn't easy, but that's what you did. In the 1980's me and Sharon were friends with Andrae Trigg, he would bring tapes to our house to listen to. There was this one tape that I still have somewhere by this minster who talked about marriage and what it was and what it wasn't. I am reminded of the story about how this lady took care of her husband after a stroke. He couldn't do for himself and how she prayed to the Lord , Lord don't take him, he needs me and I need him. The preacher said, because of the women's prayers and faithfulness, God raised the husband up and he lived a number of years.
I don't ask why I just want to know what God is trying to show us in this . Pray for us as we weather this storm. It sometimes get over whelming, but I know that Gods eyes as on the righteous His ears can hear their cry, He know when they got trouble and he will answer by and by.
